Chosen answer: From the markings it looks like a P47 jug. Strange thing is it was equipped with rockets, which I have only seen outfitted on the P-38 lightning and the P-51 Mustang. Kelly's is a great movie but far from historically accurate. There is a country song Odd Ball Plays as the blow up the rail yard that not even close to having been released at the time.
Question: How many towers were in the valley? Only one is shown in a distant shot, but most scenes show it right up to, and overlooking, a thickly forested area. However, there is one view where the trees in the near background had bare, upright branches.
Chosen answer: There were two towers, one at the north end of the valley, and one at the south end.
Question: What was the point of the police officer being in a crash at the beginning of the film. I didn't really see the point of it as it didn't play any part in the storyline.
Answer: While it doesn't have anything to do with the overall plot, the crash shows just how much Matthew is afraid to do the wrong thing and perhaps how he overthinks things. As we know all he would be doing is missing a bit of school by getting in his car and driving from the school. The fact that Matthew is able to imagine an horrific crash of a security guard because of just skipping school shows how worried he is about doing the wrong thing.
Question: When Jerry reveals himself to be a vampire in Charlie's room (the pencil stabbing scene), Jerry flees when Charlie's mother is about to enter the room. Why exactly is Jerry afraid of Charlie's mother?
Chosen answer: The mother is not a direct threat to Jerry. Jerry doesn't want anyone to know he is a vampire.
Question: Something I never completely understood about the ending. When we see senator Kelly on the TV at the end, we realize that it is actually mystique in disguise. But when the X-men told magneto that Kelly was dead.he didn't believe them. And since Kelly vaporized into water, there would be no body or any proof that he was dead. So wasn't mystique worried that she might come into contact with the real Kelly at some point?
Chosen answer: You are working under the assumption that Mystique would not believe this either. However, with Magneto in prison and no sign of the senator she could happily take on his identity. Also, even if Kelly was alive, after she gave a press statement backing mutants, it would be unlikely that a politician would change his mind so suddenly again and he would therefore not come clean that it was not him.
Question: Just after Dumbledore announces the Triwizard Challenge, there's a short scene where Igor Karkaroff slips into the deserted Great Hall where the Goblet of Fire is kept. It wasn't Igor who put Harry's name in the goblet, and Viktor Krum submitted his own entry. Obviously the audience was being led to believe that Igor may have been involved in the plot against Harry (he wasn't), but what was the real reason he went in there?
Answer: It was Barty Crouch Jr. He used the polyjuice potion to disguise himself as Igor. I believe he did this because he was originally labelled as a Death Eater. As a result, Igor was put on trial and before he was sentenced, Igor gave the Ministry Barty Jr's name, so then he was sent to Azkaban. For revenge, Barty Jr used to potion to disguise himself as Igor so if he was caught messing with the goblet, he would be questioned, due to his past (seeing as what happens at the end). That way, Barty would be remained undetected and could carry on fleeing the Ministry.
I like this answer best. It makes sense.
Chosen answer: There is no reason. In the books this scene does not occur, so the idea behind putting it into the film is purely to mislead the audience.
Answer: Because Igor wanted Viktor to get into the tournament so he put Viktor's name in again so he could raise his chances of getting picked.
Question: How come none of the ball players can go past the first base foul line?
Answer: If they go past that line they will no longer be able to play again. The field is their only place to exist in the afterlife (their heaven if you will). That line is the end of the field and they will not be able to return if they cross it.
So do the players not go after foul ball fly balls/pop ups along the first base side?
Answer: Earlier in the movie, when Annie asked Shoeless Joe if he liked to go inside the house, Joe is about to before he realises that he's about to walk past the first base line so he declines. Later, when Karen falls off the bleacher, Archie runs up to the first base line and stops for a second. As soon as Archie crosses the first base line, he turns back into "Moonlight" Graham and can never play baseball again.
Answer: It's not the foul line they can't cross. It's the outer threshold of the entire field.
Answer: Actually, when Terrence Mann first gets there, Shoeless Joe walks over to him by the bleachers, across the line. So apparently there are exceptions. That's where he gives the line about Ty Cobb.
Question: In one of the last scenes, when Kyle and her daughter hide in a little compartment and survive the explosion, somebody who answered another question in this page said it was the hold of the plane, but I thought it was the black box when I saw it. So which one was it? And is it possible for a person to fit in the black box of a plane?
Answer: No, it's not possible. The 'black box' (which actually isn't black, but is instead brightly coloured to make it easier to find) is a data recorder, packed with all the attendant electronics required for that task; it's far too small for anybody to fit into.
Question: Has it ever been stated in an episode how long it takes Sam to leap from one person to another? It seems instantaneous from the viewer's point of view, but Al is nearly always present at the point where Sam leaps out, and appears quite early in the following episode wearing completely different clothes.
Answer: It's suggested that it can be a substantial period of time, as much as several weeks, although it varies dramatically.
Question: Are Professor Kirke and Mrs. MacReady both aware of what the wardrobe really is and what it can do?
Answer: Spoiler alert: this gives some important plot twists away. Sometimes a bit of unresolved mystery improves a story, and I think this is the case here. But the book partly answers your questions. At the end of the last chapter it is shown that Mrs MacReady thinks the wardrobe is just a piece of furniture. She knows nothing about Narnia. But Professor Kirke amazes Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy by expressing familiarity with Narnia and explaining that a wardrobe might well be a portal into Narnia. If C S Lewis had not written any more books after completing "The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe" Professor Kirke's knowledge of Narnia would probably have been an unresolved mystery. But C S Lewis later wrote "The Magician's Nephew" which tells how Professor Kirke visited Narnia as a boy. The final chapter of this book says he took an apple back with him, which he planted in his garden. It grew into a tree, was cut down and made into the wardrobe. So Professor Kirke was not consciously aware of what the wardrobe could do, but with hindsight, he realised that he had set up a chain of events that caused the children to discover Narnia.
Answer: While Professor Kirke is aware of the existence of Narnia, as he was there when it was created, he doesn't appear to be aware that the wardrobe can act as a portal (although he may suspect that it has unusual properties, as the tree from which the wood came to create it grew from a Narnian apple). Mrs MacReady doesn't know.
Question: Why do the posters for Mary Jane's play say Emma Rose on them? Her character in The Importance Of Being Earnest, the play, is Cecily.
Answer: The billboard and posters are not advertisements for the play. They are advertisements for a perfume called Emma Rose.
Question: When they are repairing the cargo ship on Revanna the scientists talk about what happened in the episode Tangent. They talk about the recall device. I don't really understand what it is that O'Neill is accusing the scientists of. Could someone explain it to me please?
Answer: In Tangent, a captured Goa'uld Death Glider was retrofitted into the X-301. Unbeknownst to the SGC, it contained a recall device that would automatically make it return to Apophis home base. Teal'c and O'Neill were testing it when the device activated sending them into deep space where they nearly died. O'Neill wants to make sure the cargo ship doesn't have something similar.
Question: How many different models of Cylons have they shown?
Answer: So far they have shown seven. Number 6/Shelly Godfrey/"Gina"/Tricia Helfer, Number 8/Sharon "Boomer" Valerii/Grace Park, Number 3/D'Anna Biers/Lucy Lawless, ?/Leoben Conoy/Callum Keith Rennie, ? (Possibly Number 5)/Aaron Doral/Matthew Bennett, ?/Brother Cavell/Dean Stockwell, ?/Dr. Simon/Rick Worthy. It is as yet unknown if the Centurions and Raiders count as models.
Answer: Cavil - 1 Leoben - 2 D'Anna - 3 Simon - 4 Doral - 5 Six - 6 Daniel - 7 (never seen) Sharon - 8 Then the Final Five that don't have numbers. The Centurions, Raiders and Hybrids do not count as models as such.
Question: Why did Lois call Bonnie Debbie outside Stewie's foster home?
Answer: There doesn't seem to be any reference hiding behind this, just a slip-up by Alex Borstein, the voice of Lois. The reason for this slip-up, according to one fan site, is that originally Bonnie was named Debbie.
Question: I have been trying to figure out how the death in the episode was linked to the suspect. Now I understand that being she was the housekeeper and that identifying the body would identify who she was and make him an likely suspect (he knew her, the secret bank accounts etc.) but how would that be enough to arrest him or even prosecute him for that matter? The body was not located on his property, there was no physical evidence that he killed her, he never made any incriminating statements and so on. The case seems far too circumstantial to be able to arrest him.
Chosen answer: He'd also murdered the wig shop owner, though, and the implication was that SFPD was gathering more evidence there. Monk puts together a pretty impressive batch of circumstantial evidence for both murders, and that's enough for Stottlemeyer to arrest Harley. Many murder cases go to trial with less, and successfully convict despite a lack of absolute proof, which is, sadly, far less abundant in real life than it is on TV. Lacking concrete proof, guilt must then be established "beyond a reasonable doubt."
Question: How come Briscoe and Greene and every other cop that works in the precinct can wear suits at the scene of a crime but when other cops from other precincts are also at the crime scene they are wearing uniforms?
Answer: An example of this might be easier to give a reason, but the most likely explanation is that those in police uniform are just regular police while Briscoe, Green are detectives. As for the precinct, the area that they work in is where other detectives work so that would be why so many are dressed in suits as well.
Question: Why does Voldemort call Peter Pettigrew Wormtail?
Answer: Voldemort was a legilliman, someone who could read other peoples' minds. That is how he learned of Peter Pettigrew's nickname for his animagus form of a rat. Voldemort likely calls Pettigrew that because the name is rather demeaning, and he considers Peter one of his most lowly and cowardly servants.
Answer: They call him that because it reminds them of how traitorous and cowardly he is.
Answer: That was the nickname he had been given at Hogwarts. He and his three friends, who could transform into animals (James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin), all gave each other nicknames relating to their animal forms. Peter becomes a rat, and since rats have hairless tails, they chose to call him "Wormtail."
But that does not answer why Voldemort of all people calls him by the name given him - in secret, mind you - by his closest friends.
Pettigrew could easily have told Voldemort about the nickname himself, and Voldemort chose to use it to imply that he was as close a friend to Peter as the others had been.
Except that Voldemort doesn't see anybody as his friend. Only as his followers to follow out his commands.
Question: Does anyone know what Fred and George's odds were on the champions at the first and second tasks, and whether they changed?
Answer: The odds given first were Krum 7/4, Cedric 4/1, Fleur 10/1, Harry 37/1. The second time it is near impossible to tell because of the way the board is being held.
Question: What was the dance move announced by the DJ at the disco, that is an 80's dance move and not a 70's dance move, which has been added as a mistake, as the film was set in the 70's?
Answer: The dance move could quite easily have been a known move of the time which only gained popularity in the 1980's. The same thing happened with Michael Jackson's "Moonwalk" which had been performed by dancers and mime artists for decades before he made it popular and widely known.
