Question: When Miss Ernst says she wants Luke to be found, she screams that he must be eliminated, causing Miss Irvine to look shocked. Why would she react this way considering Miss Ernst's plan was to kill all the children in the world?
Answer: She probably didn't know about her master plan, just about turning kids into mice. Most likely she thought they'd be kept in locked cages and held prisoners.
During the meeting, Miss Ernst says that every child in England must be "Rubbed out. Destroyed." A clear indication that she was talking about killing the children after they get turned into mice but, Miss Irvine doesn't seem shocked or upset after hearing this.
Question: If Missy just moved to area and knew nothing about cheerleading, how had she seen (and recognized) that the routine was a rip-off from another school?
Answer: She said she saw them when watching football games, when they played her school.
Question: How do the players beat the house?
Answer: In addition to counting cards, their surreptitious or conniving behavior - in other words, their "underhanded" techniques (pun intended).
Question: Doesn't Earl have to pay state tax or whatever on his lottery winnings, and thus would be down to only 88 grand or so?
Question: In one episode (not sure which one but it was in the Dick York era), Darrin was arguing with Samantha and said something like "Confiding in a woman is like broadcasting by Telstar." What exactly does that mean and what was Telstar?
Answer: The Telstar Reference was in Dangerous Diaper Dan when Samantha engages in too much gossip.
Question: If Ron didn't like the robes he was given for the Christmas ball ,why did he not himself or find a teacher that could use a magical spell to make them look more up to date?
Answer: In the book, Ron did use a spell to alter the robe's look somewhat by removing the lace, but magic could only do so much to change the appearance. A teacher might have been able to do more, but it is unlikely they would replace what a parent had selected for their child without permission, no matter how hideous or ridiculous it looked.
Question: Do Django and his wife finally get free, or they have to hide from other bounty hunters?
Answer: Since the film ends with their riding off together after blowing up Candieland, any answer would be speculation. Obviously, it's meant to be a happy ending, our conquering hero triumphantly riding from the scene of his victory over Candie and all his racist minions. Realistically speaking, of course, there would obviously be a huge price on Django's head after the carnage at Candieland, and they are fugitive Black people in the pre-Civil War Deep South; every single bounty hunter and law enforcement officer, not to mention just everyday racist yokels who hear about a giant payday, would be looking for them. In the real world, they would likely be apprehended within days, if not hours. So, maybe it's best not to think too much about what happens next.
Question: What did Alex eat from the little tin in the cabin?
Answer: It's canned meat, probably deviled ham or chicken. It looks like the Underwood brand that my mother used to buy. It has a pate'-like texture that can be spread on crackers or bread. It's very salty and fatty. (I only recommend it as a last-resort survival food in the event of an extreme global catastrophe).
Question: Is it actually possible to get on to a moving train as implied in the very last scene?
Answer: Unless the train stopped, it is absolutely impossible for someone, particularly a senior man and a woman in a tight skirt and high heels, to be able to jump onto a moving commuter train, and on one that would have automatic doors.
HA! A looser skirt and flat-heeled shoes wouldn't improve the odds.
Question: When the ambulance rams the police car Arthur's in was this accidental or intentional? If intentional how'd the guy driving it know Arthur would be in it?
Answer: I think they intentionally rammed a police car, not because Joker was in it but simply because it was a police car.
Answer: I think the guy stole the ambulance and intentionally rammed the police car because they were rioting against the police.
Question: When the doves are released as Fiona and Shrek step out of the onion carriage the guy releasing them has very odd eyes - is there any reason behind this? (00:15:00 - 00:20:00)
Answer: He's a parody of the wall-eyed actor Marty Feldman, perhaps best known for his role as Igor in 'Young Frankenstein.'.
Question: What song is playing at the Blue Oyster Bar when Copeland and Blankes are forced to dance with the patrons? It's the one that has, what I think is a mambo like sound.
Answer: The song is called "El Bimbo" and was performed by Jean-Marc Dompierre and his Orchestra. It's a cover version, the song was originally produced by Bimbo Jet (a French group). This song is played in several other Police Academy films.
Question: Was the Soviet Union hockey team as good as the movie makes it out to be?
Answer: Yes. Prior to the 1980 Olympics, the Soviet Union's men's hockey team had won 5 out of the last 6 Olympics (taking 3rd in 1960). They also won the next 2 Olympics (plus the 1992 Olympics as part of the Unified Team). The 1980 team also consisted of at least 6 returning gold medalists and several world champions and future gold medalists.
Question: What character did the actor John Aprea play in the movie? The credits at the end lists him as 'The Killer', but who did he kill? He wasn't one of the two hit men at the hotel.
Answer: Notice: Aprea is credited as "Killer", not "The Killer." I think this confuses reviewers, as they assume he must be one of the hit men. However, the hit men are credited as "Phil" (Bill Hickman) and "Mike" (Paul Genge). Genge is much older than Aprea and Aprea does not look like the grey-haired hit man, as another contributor has pointed out already. There is no other killer in the plot. Perhaps Aprea's scenes were cut.
Answer: The doctor that alerts Bullitt that the grey-haired hitman is in the hospital looks like Aprea. He calls himself Dr. Kenner, and that character is uncredited. Maybe "Killer" was supposed to be "Kenner" in the credits?
Answer: Aprea portrays the Organization hood who shoots wildly at Johnny Ross as Ross' car careens out of the parking lot into and down the alley during his getaway in Chicago.
Answer: In a Bullitt movie clip on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) website, it identifies John Aprea as the killer who goes to the hospital to murder the witness. Bullitt chases him to the basement toward the end of the film.
The killer that Bullitt chases is Paul gange (listed in the credits in the role of "Mike") despite the TCM website. Aprea is listed in the movie's credits as the killer, but also lists gange as Mike. Look the name up on IMDB and you can see from his photo that he is the guy Bullitt chases. Why John Aprea - at least 20 years younger than the killer in the movie - is credited as the killer, I have no idea. And I have no idea where in the movie Aprea really appeara.
Question: How can Michael recognize Laurie as his younger sister since he wouldn't have seen her since she was only two years old?
Answer: There is a scene where Laurie dreams about meeting Michael as a young teen. It's unknown whether this is an actual memory of real events, but since nothing indicates otherwise, we could assume the he saw her at an older age when she looked closer to her 17-year-old self.
Question: Why does Murdoch's bike not have a ring bell or horn? He is often seen cycling through the busy streets at high speed to arrive on a scene ASAP but never uses any sound warning apart from yelling occasionally - which looks pretty awkward for an official person.
Answer: It's certainly a personal choice about using one, and probably similar to how some people refuse to wear a helmet or forego other safety equipment. Most bells and horns on bikes are not very loud and probably wouldn't be heard in busy traffic, making them mostly ineffective. Murdoch would likely still yell, even if he had a bell or horn.
