Stargate SG-1 (1997)

Watergate - S4-E7

Plot hole: The team go through the gate to disable a drone with the intention of being able to close the active Stargate, but once they go through in a submarine, the gate closes behind them, rendering the mission pointless. (00:24:18)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This entry seems to have been made without watching the episode or you skipped a part. When the 3 enter the Stargate via the submarine, the Gate does NOT close behind them. It stays open, which we not only see but is how they can communicate with O'Neill. Then Dr. Markov says once they bring the drone in (to the submarine), they can shut the drone off and the Gate will close. Which is what they do (off-screen) and when they do, the Gate closes.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

Other mistake: When Krall boards the Enterprise, he lands his ship in the top of the saucer, but then later, Uhura separates the saucer from the neck of the ship with both her and Krall still inside it. And then when they are back on the planet's surface, they arrive there in Krall's very recognizable three-nacelled ship, whereas all of the other ships from that fleet only have two nacelles.

Suggested correction: The other ships were also taking Enterprise crew members, so there's no reason to think whoever was left to pilot Krall's ship couldn't pick up Krall and Uhura.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

Other mistake: When the saucer of the Enterprise finally crashes, all sorts of dust comes into the bridge through the big window at the front. Two mistakes here: 1. The very next shot shows that the dust cloud never actually reaches up to the bridge (which is in the middle of the saucer) and 2. Later in the movie, Kirk and Chekov escape the bridge, but to do so, they need to shoot the window out. So the dust couldn't have got in even if it had reached the bridge. Which it didn't. (00:32:25 - 00:51:30)

Friso94

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The dust and debris seen isn't from hitting the dirt or ground. It came before when the saucer was crashing through the mountains and you see the entire top of the saucer covered in dust. But the debris didn't have to come from a window that was later shot out. It could have come from other widows or hull breaches, not to mention the fact that what we see is probably the interior of the ship itself.

Ghosts (US) (2021)

Show generally

Corrected entry: It's established the ghosts can pass through walls, doors, etc. but Hetty's husband's ghost was trapped in a vault for 130 years until the door was finally opened.

Correction: That's not a plot hole, it's literally the plot. They specifically mention the material The Vault is made from is impenetrable to ghosts. They even say, "I love it when the mythology gets expanded."

Secret Window (2004)

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, Mort closes the door of his jeep before he goes into the hotel room. You can hear the sound of the door closing and it's visible in the rearview-mirror. As the camera moves out of the room, the jeep door is completely open. (00:02:05)

Suggested correction: The door just didn't actually catch. I've had cars like that, especially during the winter.

MovieFan612

Given that we see it stay closed for almost 4 seconds and hear it catch, it's a valid mistake.

Bishop73

If you've ever lived where it snows a lot, you'd know that door catches accumulate moisture (ice) and can open slowly, as it did in this case.

Even if you think it's a coincidence, it's still a valid trivia since it connects an actor and film to another role.

Adjournment - S1-E6

Character mistake: When Beth is asked to solve a chess puzzle, she answers, "King to Queen 7." The white King is nowhere near the 7th rank. (00:10:38)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: You're looking at the board the wrong way. When he sets it up, he's using his side as the white side so Beth is sitting on the black side. So the white king is on Q6. Since the question is about white winning, she's playing as white and using white's notation, just from the opposite seating position.

Batman Begins (2005)

Batman Begins mistake picture

Continuity mistake: As Ducard is sliding down the ice toward the cliff, he's on his front, sliding feet first. Bruce is also on his stomach, but sliding head first. Then, just before Ducard goes over the edge, Bruce is instantly on his back, sliding sideways, right side toward Ducard, just in time to take Ducard's hand, saving him. (00:40:10)

Suggested correction: The shot from afar shows Bruce rolling as he grabs Ducard at the edge. He isn't instantly on his back.

The mistake is valid. In the shot from afar, Bruce is already on his back with no time to roll over into that position from the previous shot.

Nobody (2021)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: If you're talking about the couple that robbed him, Hutch never kicked any door open. The couple lives in an enclosed apartment building and when he leaves, he goes to open their front door (which would lead to a hallway). When the shot changes, he's now exiting the apartment building itself (which leads to the outside). So it's a different door.

Nobody (2021)

Deliberate mistake: Hutch is in the trunk of a BMW 7 series ranging in years from 2001-2008. The trunk is equipped with an interior trunk release cable if somebody gets trapped in the trunk. While the car is in motion Hutch manages to free himself of his handcuffs and open the trunk. If the trunk is opened while the vehicle is on a light would flash on the drivers display alerting him/her to "trunk ajar" with a little picture of a car with an open trunk. I know I had one for 5 years. (00:51:50)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: What you described is true, but there's no mistake in the movie. We never see the dash when he opened the trunk, so you can't say it didn't come on. Then he only had the trunk open for about 10 seconds, and we don't know what anyone in the car said. The driver might not have noticed it, noticed it and saw it went back off, or said something about it. But less than 15 seconds later, Hutch breaks into the back seat and starts attacking, so even if the driver did notice it, it's pointless now.

Big Trouble in Little China mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Jack runs Lo Pan over with the truck, he signals Jack to drive towards him. A shot later when the truck hits him, his hand is lowered.

Sacha

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Between the robe LoPan wears and angle of the camera, it can't be determined if his hand is lowered, or in the same position.

You can tell the hand is lowered because his hand should be visible as it was above his shoulder. And to point out the obvious, when it cuts to the front of the truck, it's a dummy in place, so we know his hand isn't up. We also see the dummy fall over as it's hit making it more obvious the hand isn't raised.

Bewitched (1964)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This is trivia at best, but the episode isn't really a remake of an earlier episode. Here Samantha teaches Uncle Arthur (Lynde) to drive and in season 1 Harold (Lynde) taught Samantha to drive. But the same actor playing multiple roles in a series is never a mistake.

Bishop73

Plot hole: When Picard is talking to Guinan inside the Nexus she tells him that he can leave and go anywhere anytime and Picard and Kirk go back to Veridian III just before the launch of the missile. Now why didn't Picard go back to when they first located Soran on the Armagosa observatory and detain him there? Or if he wanted to he could have gone back even further to Earth and saved his brother and nephew.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This is a question, not a plot hole. Characters behaving differently than you would doesn't constitute a plot hole, and there's nothing contradicting the plot. The short answer is because of the Temporal Prime Directive. Yes, there have been several Star Trek episodes and movies dealing with time travel, but Picard knows it's best not to change the past too much. Plus, going back even further in time doesn't guarantee he'll be able to stop Soran.

Trivia: After Morgan Freeman shoots the guy with the shotgun, the next scene is outside with the news crew and you will see Morgan Freeman walk by the camera dressed up with dreadlocks and cap and keeps looking at the camera. It's Morgan Freeman playing an extra.

Tommy L

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: I agree, it's definitely not Morgan Freeman. If you're talking about the guy in the red knit cap and what looks like a red sweater vest, he doesn't have a mustache and his nose is completely different from Freeman's nose looks like in profile. Without any confirmation from someone from the film (such as a director's commentary) or further evidence, this isn't valid trivia.

Bishop73

Suggested correction: Wow, I find pretty extraordinary that this cameo is not mentioned anywhere else. The guy does look like Morgan Freeman (I am adding a screenshot to the entry), and is not seen anywhere else in the scene, nor Freeman is in the wide shot, so I can't say the entry is false, I just find it quite strange since usually this sort of humorous bit roles get mentioned a lot. Kudos for noticing.

Sammo

That is not Morgan Freeman.

M*A*S*H (1972)

Too Many Cooks - S8-E1

Factual error: While eating, General Haggarty was told about how Conway should be a cook. Haggarty said "Change his (Conway's) MOS. MOS means Military Occupational Specialty, your job in service. Since M*A*S*H was set in the early 50's, Haggarty wouldn't have said that, because 'MOS' wasn't used until 1965.

Movie Nut

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: "MOS" most certainly was used during the Korean War. In 1965, the MOS system was simply changed, not created.

Bishop73

I perhaps misspoke. It was titled PMOS, and revamped in 1965 as just MOS. My apologies and thanks for the info.

Movie Nut

According to "Introduction to Special Regulations SR 615-25-15, Enlisted Personnel Military Occupational Specialties" from the Department of the Army in November 1950, it's MOS. The "P" just means primary, but MOS was/is used way more than PMOS.

Continuity mistake: When Four uses the wristband to free himself from the cell in Erudite as Tris and Christina engage the guards, as soon as the door opens he drops the wristband. In the next shot when all the guards are down, the wristband has changed positions on the floor.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: It's in the same position, it's just the camera angle has changed. Look at in the first shot you can see 3 windows and the light from those 3 windows, which when the camera moves, we only see light from 2 windows. In the next shot, we only see 1 window and just a little bit of light from the 1 window.

Bishop73

Continuity mistake: Periodically, we see beyond the wall, where it appears to be heavily forested just beyond the wall and a distance beyond. However, once past the wall, the group starts with a cliff down and then it is completely barren, with completely different weather conditions (frequent red rain).

The Batman (2022)

Corrected entry: The famous shot of the question mark in the coffee makes no sense in the film. When the Riddler is caught in the diner, he's made a mark out of froth - but he's made the mark face to the right of himself. He's in front of it, the dining staff behind the cup, and the cops and Batman are to his left. Who did he make the mark for? Likely it was made to the right so the camera would have room to pan over it in the empty bar. So Riddler made it for...the audience?

Correction: How is this a mistake? He can orient a question mark any way he wants, it doesn't have to be specially lined up for anyone to "see." It is perfectly in character for him to draw a question mark in the coffee askew from his own perspective. There are literally thousands of question marks the Riddler has drawn throughout the character's history and many of them are not lined up with anything in particular, and would be askew from where he must have been standing to draw.

BaconIsMyBFF

Correction: The fact is, it has nothing to do with the Riddler making the "?" at any angle he wants. When we first see him, he's facing the mug and the handle is to his left, parallel with the counter's edge. During the scene, the mug moves because they slam him to the counter so that the handle is now perpendicular almost to the counter's edge. When the "?" is revealed, you see the handle to the left meaning he actually made the mark in front of him, not to the right of him. So the mistake is simply wrong.

Bishop73

Correction: This is not a mistake or "stupidity" in any way, shape or form. He's allowed to make a question mark any darned way he wants.

Suggested correction: When is he shown without shoes on? In every shot of him in the hospital bed, he's seen wearing shoes. When he's first brought in, when Mary first sees him, and when the gunmen first attack while he's still on the bed you see he has shoes on.

Hancock (2008)

Continuity mistake: When Hancock is coming up on the SUV in the beginning, he has a bottle of whiskey in his left hand. When he lands and goes to rip off the roof of the SUV, you see his left hand empty (except for a handful of roof). After opening the vehicle, you see him fly backwards, and you see that he has the bottle in hand again.

Movie Nut

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: If you watch it again, you see after he rips the roof off and goes flying backward, the bottle actually flies back with him, and he actually grabs it. So he tucked it away or set it somewhere while off-screen to rip the roof off.
