Revealing mistake: During one of the chase scenes, an SUV hits a rock barrier and flips over landing on its top. The car spins around, and we see that it is empty. The driver then climbs out as if he was just in the vehicle.
Continuity mistake: When two officers go to inform Ronald Whitlock (Bruce Willis) about his sons, Ronald shoots his pistol at the Black officer and hits him near his inner right eyebrow. (A large black spot can be seen between his eyebrows.) When the camera shows the dead officer, the black mark is gone and the bullet hole is on his forehead centered about 2" above his left eye. Deliberate mistake: The "Sixth Street Coffee" surveillance video footage of Zara disarming the barista's determined ex-boyfriend was different from the actual event when shown on Audrey's cell phone (recorded from TV news). The most obvious difference was that Zara never held the gun with both hands behind her and making a circular motion over her head before aiming at the man she had kicked to the floor. Character mistake: During the opening fight Jackie lands a punch on her opponent just after the round ends. The referee should've warned her about this as it's illegal in MMA to do this, and he didn't.
Continuity mistake: At the Internet Store, Spencer was told his house was "right outside" the service area, internet was not available, and a satellite would not work. At the Phone Store, Chad told Lynn and Zoe they were in the "dead zone." When Lynn answered Spencer's call by putting her head out the upstairs window, she said, "The service is great up here." Lynn and Zoe could listen to the news on their cell phone in the kitchen and Zoe read about asteroids just outside the front door. Internet worked? (00:04:53 - 00:28:00)
Continuity mistake: There is no barn to the left of MacMasters' house (otherwise, it would be visible from the front porch), but when Albert runs from the side of the porch into the open, there is a barn. When Britt got home, there was a barn but it was not where it would have been when Albert was running from Jed's gang. (00:09:10 - 00:10:18)
Continuity mistake: Numerous times throughout the movie (within and between scenes), the length of Amber's bangs varies - from above, to touching, and into her eyebrows. The length even changed, at times, from the beginning to end of a short telephone call.
Visible crew/equipment: When the group realise they have triggered the alarm system, one of them says "Shhh listen" and the boom microphone appears briefly above his head. (00:45:26)
Factual error: After the HEAVY rain and losing his supplies during the storm, Max (Royce's adolescent son) told his sister he needed to find two very dry pieces of wood to be able to make a fire. Everything in the woods would have been soaked, but Max quickly found two "very dry" logs and was able to make a friction fire (in record speed).
Audio problem: When Charles knocked on the man's door to offer storm repairs, the sounds didn't match; they were slightly delayed, with the last knocking sound coming after Charles stopped knocking and lowered his hand.
Continuity mistake: Samantha placed the bottle of glue on top of the metal object she glued, but the bottle of glue was on the desk and the metal object was gone when the doorbell rang. (00:04:56)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the real estate agent greets the McKenzies, lovers of all things open. The potential clients hold the papers in a completely different way at the cut ("I was just telling the Breckins that..." etc). (00:01:15)
Other mistake: William Tillich (AKA Bill Tell) had one suitcase which could not possibly hold enough sheets (or thin blankets) to cover/wrap all the furniture in his motel room like he did. (His suitcase was not very large and also contained his clothes.) He covered an even larger area of furniture in Gordo's house. It isn't clear if he used his own sheets or just happened to find the same kind in Gordo's house.
Continuity mistake: There isn't anything immediately in front of the storage shed when Edee opens the door. Inside, looking out, there is some type of diagonal, long thin branches or vines extending to the ground, which are gone in the subsequent view. (00:09:42)
Other mistake: A vehicle bought at a NYPD auction must be paid for in cash, including tax. Ballena won the auction with his $60,000 bid for the Navigator, but it did not appear that Ballena was carrying that amount of cash on him. (He was not carrying a bag or briefcase.) If Ballena did have the $60,000 plus tax in cash, it would have taken some time for it to be counted before the paperwork could be completed, but no money was shown during the process. (01:05:03)
Revealing mistake: In a sudden downpour, "rain" falls vertically, across a single line. (00:18:28 - 00:19:44)
Continuity mistake: The changes/inconsistencies in how the lobsters were arranged on Frank's and Hildy's plates cannot be accounted for based on their movements while eating/cracking them open. (00:59:35 - 01:00:37)
Deliberate mistake: When James started to fall off the ladder, he tried to jump to reach the other side. Thom grabbed his right hand with his and was able to pull him to safety. James' weight and the force with which he jumped and swayed would have most likely resulted in James pulling Thom over the edge with him, and both being seriously injured or killed. (01:22:26)
Continuity mistake: When the terrorists take over the plane we see Eightball brutally stab a secret agent to death, and he gets blood on his face and clothing. In many scenes after this the position and amount of blood can be seen changing.
Deliberate mistake: The doctor appears to write just three numbers or a short wavy line on the back of his business card for the phone number he told Marjorie to call (to get a second opinion about Nathan). (00:42:35)
