Haddock then lowers a ladder, down below the deck, so that the others can climb out, but even after every single person down below decks climbs out, the fire has not extended or grown further in any way, even after the time spent letting all the people out. Continuity mistake: When the submarine fires on the cargo ship, Haddock yells "Full speed ahead" and pulls back the lever controlling the speed, but the lever snaps off, leaving it positioned at the SLOW sign, putting the ship in reverse. A few shots later, when Haddock puts a screwdriver against where the lever is place, it is suddenly positioned towards the HALF sign. (00:40:20)
