See Dick Continue to Run (2) - S2-E1

Other mistake: When Dennis Rodman sees Harry, Tommy, and Sally at the hardware store, he addresses all three by name and asks what they are doing on Earth. If he didn't previously know they were on Earth, then he couldn't have known they were going by those names, as they chose those names after arriving at Earth. Harry even mentioned in a later episode that the names Tommy, Dick, and Harry were chosen by chance when they saw the phrase "Every Tom, Dick, and Harry" written down.

Dick on One Knee - S2-E16

Other mistake: When Dick is trying to get into the jewelry store, the clerk keeps trying to buzz him in. When that doesn't work because Dick doesn't understand to wait for the buzzer to finish before he tries opening the door, the clerk goes over to the door and unlocks the deadbolt and opens the door for him. If the door was locked by a deadbolt, then a buzzer wouldn't really do anything to unlock the door. (00:14:05 - 00:15:00)

Suggested correction: It's not a deadbolt. If it was they have retracting deadbolts.

Guilty as Dick - S2-E15

Other mistake: When Dick is up in the tree fort, the aliens are looking at him through their hand binoculars, but the image is taken from the same height as Dick. However, since he is higher than they are, they would be seeing him at an angle. The view as seen would be impossible unless they were at the same height as he was.

Suggested correction: What the camera shows is for the audience. It's not meant to be a POV shot of what the three are seeing.

Dick Puts the Id in Cupid - S5-E11

Other mistake: While talking to his therapist, Dick tells her that one of the mishaps that he caused in his relationship with Mary was showing up to a fundraiser naked. While true, this doesn't happen until Episode 13 (Rutherford Beauty) - two episodes later. This was due to the fact that most of Season 5 was aired out of production order.

Suggested correction: The show was produced in the right order, so this isn't a mistake. Being aired out of order isn't a mistake of the show. It should be noted that for each of the 6 season, episodes were constantly aired out of order.

Proud Dick - S2-E13

Other mistake: When Dick and Sally are playing with the cat toy in the kitchen, they make a lot of joyous noise while doing so. When the shot changes, we see Mary coming up the stairs to a completely silent home, and she can't seem to locate anyone until Harry pulls her into the closet. The kitchen is only a few feet away from the stairway, so not only should Dick and Sally's voices have still been very audible, but at the very least, Sally should have been in Mary's direct line of sight. Dick's Big Giant Headache (1) - S4-E23

Trivia: When the Solomons meet the Big Giant Head at the airport and ask how his flight was, he says that it was horrible because when he looked out the airplane window, he saw something on the wing of the plane. Dick responds that the same thing happened to him. William Shatner appeared in the 1960's Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" in which a gremlin tried to destroy the wing of a plane. John Lithgow appeared in "Twilight Zone: The Movie" playing the same character in the same situation.

Dick and Taxes - S4-E12

Question: When Mary asks Dick what he expected for not paying his taxes when he learns he owes thousands to the IRS, he responds with, "I certainly didn't expect my girlfriend to wear my ass as a snowshoe!" I'm not sure I have ever understood this joke. What is the meaning behind it?

Phaneron

Answer: The writers often have Dick respond to Mary with a retort that he thinks is in the common vernacular but makes a mistake in wording that is often funny. Dick seems to be imputing a criticism from Mary and responds with a corruption of the more common "I'm going to wear your ass like a hat!" I doubt it has anything to do with owing taxes. Probably just one of the writers assuming a common regional phrase would be universally recognized.

That makes total sense. I always interpreted it as perhaps snowshoes are an expensive item, and given that he was blaming Mary for his newfound financial woes, he was equating her living off his generosity and used snowshoeing as a metaphor.
