Landon proposes to Jamie, and even when she is dying with her leukemia, she accepts. They get married in the church. Jamie, who is still very weak, wants to walk the aisle with her father, note the impossible trek, and the reason why this book/movie was titles "A Walk to Remember." The movie indicates that Jamie dies, but in the book, Nicholas Sparks leaves his readers questioning by telling the readers confused with the last line, "I smile slightly, looking towards the sky, knowing there's one thing I haven't told you:I now believe, by the way, in miracles."

Jamie: OK, so you don't care about classes or graduating, but you like school because you're popular and you'll never be on top again.
Landon: That's thoroughly predictable.
Jamie: Your act only works on an audience.
Trivia: The song that Landon is listening to when he pulls up to the cement factory is by Shane West's own band "Jonny Was" (then "Average Joe"). The song appears on the soundtrack under the band name "West, Gould, & Fitzgerald".
