Question: When the soldiers were skydiving into the city why did they have red flares attached to their boots?

Answer: Due to the storm, it became difficult for the soldiers to see one another. The flares were used to help them keep track of their positions during the skydive.

Question: Why does the male MUTO mate with the female if she is already pregnant?

Answer: The female produces the eggs, and then the male mates with her to fertilize them. She is technically not "pregnant" until after the mating.

Question: How did the female MUTO get pregnant if they were hibernating far away from each other? It's either that she was born pregnant and they mated, which made her produce more eggs than usual, but I'm not sure.

Answer: Another person right here answered this question as well, and to paraphrase what they said: the female had produced the eggs. But for all means and technicalities, she wasn't pregnant until she mated with the male and received his sperm that would create the embryos inside the eggs. At least, that's what we can assume based on real-life egg-laying animals.

Question: Why are they transporting entire missiles instead of just detaching the warheads (which are air portable)?

Answer: Because detaching them and reattaching them would have taken time, which they didn't have.

But, after the crash, they remove the warheads and transport them by helicopter and leave the boosters behind, as they only need the warheads.

Factual error: In the cardiac resuscitation scene with Brian Cranston, someone says "he's in atrial fibrillation... Give him 1 milligram of epinephrine." Wrong drug, in fact one that would very likely kill him immediately (maybe that's why he didn't make it!).

Trivia: When Joe and Ford first reenter their home in the quarantine zone 15 years after the incident, in the foreground there is an aquarium with the word "Mothra" written on a piece of paper at the bottom. This is, of course, a reference to the 1964 movie "Godzilla vs. Mothra."
