Monk

Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa - S6-E10

Factual error: Michael Kenworthy and his robbery crew made plans to move to Ecuador after the heist. That wouldn't work because the United States has extradition agreements with every country in the western hemisphere.

Suggested correction: This is technically true, however, Ecuador is a relatively easy country for US expats to request political asylum in.

Mr. Monk Paints His Masterpiece - S6-E14

Factual error: When Stottlemeyer and Randy are at the painter's daughter's home they find a picture showing him in front of Carson papers, which leads the Captain to say: they have a contract with the treasury, they are producing the paper for the U.S. currency. This is wrong: the treasury is not in charge of printing the Federal Reserve Notes. Rather it is the privately owned Fed that prints the Federal Reserve Notes and then lends it to the treasury at interest. And the interest added is the reason why there will never be enough money to pay the interest, i.e. the state debt.

Suggested correction: While the Federal Reserve is in charge of maintaining our currency (through the creation or destruction of currency, real or digital), the U.S. Department of Treasury is in fact responsible for printing money, through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Mr. Monk and the Panic Room - S3-E2

Factual error: The cops gain entry to the panic room to be faced with a chimp waving around a loaded handgun, apparently having shot a man, and shrug and make jokes about reading him his rights, instead of expressing the slightest concern that this animal might shoot them. Cops shoot remotely aggressive dogs all the time, but an ape with a gun doesn't even make them raise an eyebrow. Plus the police never did a gunshot residue test on the chimp. Standard procedure, and would've proven they didn't shoot.

Mr. Monk Gets Jury Duty - S4-E16

Factual error: When Natalie hears the jury's muffled screams inside the locked room she uses the fire extinguisher to tear off the door knob. But a locked door without a knob is actually only harder to open, because like that you cannot turn the mechanism even if it was unlocked.

Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan - S3-E1

Factual error: In the episode the victims were murdered with a .22 caliber firearm. However, a short shot of the crime scene focuses on an empty shell casing which comes from a larger caliber firearm, most likely a 9mm parabellum. (00:05:30)

Mr. Monk Meets His Dad - S5-E9

Factual error: The runaway truck ramp has no advance signage (e.g. Runaway Truck Ramp Ahead 1/2 Mile) as real runaway truck ramps do. It has no loose sand to slow down the truck's wheels. And it doesn't point uphill as a real ramp would.

Mr. Monk's Other Brother - S7-E10

Factual error: In the scene where Monk is making pancakes in his kitchen, he is using a stainless steel spatula on a teflon-coated griddle pan. Mr. Monk has OCD and would never risk scratching his pan with a metal utensil.

Mr. Monk Goes Back to School - S2-E1

Factual error: In the cold opening, Derek said that his wife is very smart and got a 1680 on the SAT. This episode takes place in 2003, the writing portion that was added to make the max (2400, not 1600) was in 2005.

Mr. Monk Goes to Jail - S2-E16

Factual error: The murdered man is killed by poison while having his last meal just before they execute him that night. Death row inmates have their last meal one to two days before they're executed.

Rob245

Mr. Monk and the Big Game - S5-E3

Factual error: All the players have their first names on the back of their jerseys. They should have their last names on the jerseys for better identification considering some of them would probably have the same first name.

Suggested correction: This isn't a mistake just because a school does it a different way than what you expect. Not to mention that some people also have the same last name, so using the last name would create the same "problem." All they would have to do is add a last name initial.

Mr. Monk Goes to Jail - S2-E16

Factual error: When Monk visits the prison for the first time, he is searched, passed, and has a mini-panic attack because people have touched him. Sharona steps forward to comfort him, and she puts her arms around him. This is a very serious breach of procedure and it is not possible for the guards to miss it, because Sharona has not been searched. It's a common technique for trying to pass contraband called 'a touch through' - a person with an item to be smuggled into the prison (drugs, usually), passes them on to a person who has been searched and is therefore 'clean'. Monk would be taken back to the guard's station to be searched again. He would not be allowed leniency because the guards happen to know or to like him - visitor ingress and egress is always done under CCTV and the guard would know he was being watched - quite possibly by someone who doesn't know who Monk and Sharona are.

Suggested correction: Sharona was searched first by the female guard.

In fact Sharona breaks away from the female guard to go to Monk. She has NOT been searched.

The correction is correct. The female guard already finished patting Sharona down before the male guard even had a chance to start his pat down of Monk.

Bishop73

Yeah, the correction is correct. I went back six times through that clip: Sharona and Monk both get searched, and then Sharona touches Monk.

Answer: Stottlemeyer was already upset after the phone call. He was trying to get "Kevin" (who would have to be a judge, but no further character information is given) to issue a restraining order with no evidence of needing one, except that Adrian Monk said she needs one. Kevin said he would need to "sleep on it." So it's clear they've been trying to provide protection and unable to get the results they need, which seems to be based on no one trusting Monk the way Stottlemeyer does. He's just angry that they failed to protect Linda despite all their work. Although it does feel like a scene was cut, or altered, from the show that shows the futile attempts to protect Linda which built up to his outrage.

Answer: While walking upstairs in the victims house randy starts messing with his out of place tennis shoes. When he gets upstairs to monks he has on other shoes. Could have to do with the expensive rug.
