Trivia: Originally the fate of Louis Creed was meant to be more subtle and open - his deceased wife Rachel was to walk into the kitchen and discover him alone and end there; in the film, a grotesque Rachel embraces him while grabbing a knife and we hear his scream just when the screen fades to black.

Revealing mistake: When the mother gets into an accident after her tire blows, the ghost shows up. It is floating above her car. Notice the seam where the ghost is on the car. When the scene shakes slightly, the ghost shakes too indicating it was a poorly superimposed shot.
