Goldeneye

Continuity mistake: James Bond does his bungee jump down a dam that looks like it's in the beginning of spring, but when he emerges from the factory, it is dead winter with no dam in sight, since they are on a mountain top. (00:01:00)

Revealing mistake: In the opening scene when Bond is shown running up to the spot from where he will bungee jump, it is not Pierce Brosnan but his stunt double. You can also see a smudge on the camera lens in the same shot. It starts out on the wall on the left and moves downward onto the asphalt and stops just to the left of where Bond drops the bungee cable. (00:01:05)

Character mistake: When Bond is jumping from the dam in the opening sequence, you see him 'clip in' twice, once attaching the rope to his feet, and once attaching the rope to the dam. He is using screw-gate carabiners, large clips that have a small bevel gate on them that secure them shut. Yet Bond doesn't screw them shut - all it takes is a simple flick of the fingers and they're done. This means that they're not as safe as they should be, and could potentially open - particularly when doing something as stressful as diving off a dam. You would have thought that as Bond's parents 'had the luxury of dying in a climbing accident' as Trevelyan puts it, he would take more care over basic safety procedures when using ropes and climbing equipment. (00:01:10)

Continuity mistake: Opening sequence when Bond bungees off the dam, you see him lay down the bungee cord he uses; it appears to be no more than a couple of meters of cord. Seconds later, there is a shot of the dam itself, panning upwards from the bottom. The dam appears to be several hundred meters high. Not a chance that tiny cord is enough. (00:01:20)

Visible crew/equipment: When Bond is just about to dive of the dam, the camera has a view from over his shoulder. You can just about make out over on the far left a car park with film crew vans and trucks. There is also much further down the dam a crane with a camera on. (00:01:35)

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, when Bond is cutting through the access hatch with the laser, you can clearly see that the laser is constantly shaking about, yet the cutting is in a perfect line. (00:02:23)

Continuity mistake: When Alec confronts Bond in the storeroom at the beginning of the film, he's seen pointing a suppressed Browning BDA at him; however in the other scenes the gun switches to an anachronistic Browning BDM (as this sequence is set in 1986). The BDM is what Trevelyan uses during the climax. (00:03:30)

Revealing mistake: During the shot where Bond and Alec are emerging from the hallway floor in the dam compound, watch the left wall. As Bond bumps against it after pulling out his pistol, it visibly flexes inwards and pops back out. A concrete wall capable of supporting the weight of a dam with industrial-grade pipes wouldn't flex in like that; it's quite a thin wooden set made up as such. (00:04:25)

Continuity mistake: When James and Alec emerge from the hallway floor, James backs into the wall with a straight back and his pistol right by his face. Camera cuts and his body position and the position of the gun have changed. (00:04:40)

Continuity mistake: In the bottling room scene, 006 holds his gun hanging down in his left hand. Then after he activates the alarm, it shows the gun in his right hand. (00:05:09)

Revealing mistake: When Trevelyan shoots with an automatic gun in the chemical weapon factory, there's some shots where the flame doesn't come from the gun itself. There's some device producing the flame beside it. (00:05:40)

Dr Wilson

Audio problem: When Bond is walking from one side of the chemical factory to the other behind the cage of gas tanks, we hear his footsteps with a clack sound which sounds like normal shoes on a concrete floor, not boots with a thick rubber sole. Also, the noise is out of sync with his actual footsteps. (00:07:10)

Audio problem: While Bond is wrestling with the pilot inside the small plane at the beginning, he leans out of the door and shoots a guard on a bike. However, the actual gunshot is heard before he even points his gun. (00:07:30)

Continuity mistake: When Bond exits the chemical factory, his hair is noticeably shorter than it was when he was inside. Apparently, the conveyor belt tunnel had a barber. (00:08:15)

Goldeneye mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Bond is running after the plane, we see 2 motorcycles in front of the group of soldiers. We then see the whole runway from a long shot and the motorcycles are not in sight. (00:08:20)

Visible crew/equipment: In the pre-title sequence there is a shot just after Bond leaves the Russian facility while escaping. In the shot, there is a plane moving and at the background Bond is standing and aiming his gun at the plane. There the person appearing isn't Brosnan, he is a stunt double. The stunt double's face is visible on blu ray. He's noticeable even without stopping the movie. (00:08:20)

Revealing mistake: In the airfield outside the chemical weapon factory, James Bond hits a man with a motorcycle. He flies in the air before the impact and it's obviously a dummy. (00:08:40)

Goldeneye mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the start of the movie where Bond is fighting the man on the runaway plane, Bond jumps out of the plane with the pilot (they hit the motorcycle). In mid-air, Bond has no gloves on, and when he gets back on the motorcycle, he has black leather gloves on. (00:09:08)

Revealing mistake: At the beginning when Bond is chasing the plane on the motorbike, in the last shot of Bond from behind before he goes over the cliff, the background shot of the mountains is a painting. Not only can you see the square sections on the wall, but some parts of the painting don't even match. (00:09:25)

Continuity mistake: When Bond is flying the plane (after freefalling from the motorcycle) over the chemical plant at the beginning of the film, the people who have been chasing him down the runway have vanished. (00:10:17)

[Bond puts his gun against Valentin Zukovsky's head.]
Valentin Zukovsky: Walther PPK. Seven point six five millimeter. Only three men I know use such a gun. I believe I've killed two of them.

Trivia: When Bond is playing baccarat with Xenia, his last hand, and only winning hand against her, is two face cards (a king and a queen if I remember correctly) and a six. In baccarat, face cards and tens are worth 0, and cards under ten are worth their number. So, his cards are, in order, 0-0-6, the code number of his lost friend, Alec Trevelyan (006).

Question: If the opening scene was staged to get 007 to surrender, then it seems it was a terrible plan. Look how many Russians got killed by Bond and 006. It seems very awkward that the whole thing was staged. Why did Bond need to surrender? Why couldn't 006 just shoot him (besides the usual reason that 007 must be executed through an overly involved and escape-riddled plan) What would they do with him once he was captured? Too many questions and a weird scenario.

Answer: The plan was not to capture 007, it was to stage 006's death. Trevelyan's long-term goal was to steal money from the Bank of England and cover it up using the GoldenEye satellite - he presumably did not have time to run the Janus Syndicate and implement this very elaborate plan whilst serving as a full-time MI6 officer. In fact, it was probably the intention that Bond should escape and tell the British government that 006 had died a hero's death.
