Continuity mistake: When Melina's car is hit by the machine gun, we see a close-up of the back end of the car, including the 2CV6 sign. Later in the car chase there suddenly is a Spanish national sticker (E) to the left of the 2CV6 sign. The bullet holes are different as well.

Visible crew/equipment: When Bond kills the henchman on the cliff, when he falls off for a split second you can see the rigging and framework from the studio set showing that bit was done in the studio.

Continuity mistake: The escape scene from Gonzalez's villa. Bond uses a sun umbrella as a parachute. The camera shows Bond jumping, under the opened umbrella. At that point, the umbrella canopy doesn't have any bullet holes in it. Bond reaches the ground, lets go of the umbrella and runs. The camera cuts to the guard on the ledge above about to fire at the umbrella. He hasn't yet fired any bullets, but in the next shot there are suddenly already bullet holes in the canopy before the guard actually begins firing.

Plot hole: Bond makes a huge tactical error after diving to the St. Georges. He knows the Russians and their operatives are after the ATAC. The ATAC itself is expendable to Britain, since it has a self-destruct mechanism that, under proper procedure, would have been set off when the ship sank. So why is Bond trying to retrieve it? Because he disarms the self-destruct, he actually allows Kristatos to get his hands on it, forcing Bond to track it down again and, to stop the Russians from getting it, HE DESTROYS IT! So why doesn't Bond, instead of disarming the self-destruct, set a timed charge or toss a grenade in the room to destroy the ATAC while it's at the bottom of the sea? The answer is, of course, that if Bond destroys the ATAC before the bad guys can get at it, the movie's over. Even so, at the end, when Bond finally does destroy the ATAC, he tells Gogol it's "detente. You don't have it. I don't have it." Clever line, but it reinforces the fact that the British don't need it. They can build another one.

Question: Why does Bond go to Bibi to try and get information about Eric Kriegler? Couldn't he have simply contacted his own department to get a background check on him. After all, it's not like she would have had anything very informative (considering that she had previously stated that he never talks to girls).

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Whether he talked to her or not, Bibi would have inside information simply by being around him so much. She would have overheard things that a background check wouldn't reveal, like planned criminal activity.
